Back from Hols

2:30pm: It's over, bouhou!

We came home last night to avoid being stuck on the roads because of the "Tour de France" being in the wrong area today!

4 reasons for post-holiday blues:

1- It is too hot here! 32°C is inhuman and this morning's storm has done nothing to ease the ambient stickiness!

2- After getting the chalet spick and span all day yesterday (a lot cleaner than when we arrived of course...), here is a pigstye: torn luggage all over the place, upside down bedrooms, filthy floors and mucky bathroom...

3- The tumbledryer has broken down! It was the bad surprise of Departure day so it's not a surprise anymore but it still is a shock when you are 5 washes behind and all you have is a flat tower dryer! Only advantage to the heat: it should dry quickly!

4- Flies: we made the mistake of forgetting the used guinea pigs litter in the garage and believe me even shut in a bag, this brought life to tons of worms growing into flies in less than 7 days! That has to be a record and flies can be seen everywhere in the house!!!

4 reasons to be relieved to be home:

1- Toilets: it's wonderful to discover there are 2 whole tiles between your feet and the door when sitting on the throne, compared to none at all in the chalet!

2- Our bed is too comfortable! On holiday we didn't even get a real double bed! We had to join a single bed (80cm wide) to the couch and there were 10 cm difference in height...

3- The telly? The computer? Internet? We should be pleased to have them back but to be honest we've lived perfectly well without!

4- Flies: there were loads in the chalet, buzz buzzing in our ears to wake us up in the mornings! Ah yes I forgot, here too now!

7:30pm: Eventually emptied the suitcases and sorted the washing but there is still work to be done before we have a clean house, tough it's too hot! Even too hot to cook some dinner...

Rushed this morning to get the photos processed, holding on as we can! They're mainly pictures of the kids doing the horseriding but it's grand to have them, already nostalgic for the mountains and the holiday.

We had so much fun, we went horse riding, rafting, canoeing, canyonning. We made lots of friends and had mega fun together what with "concours de Pétanque", quizz night, dancing night and barbecue. One week is too short!

The children were very quiet today and seemed pleased to get back to their modern city kids habits, except Laura of course. She's missing her new friends and suddenly has a rotten cold so she's not feeling great. She and Christopher are going camping with the Playcentre for a week on Monday. They are due to cycle to the campsite and will do horseriding twice in the week. Laura is not entirely pleased with going but I know she'll enjoy herself once there and her cold should have more or less disappeared by Monday.

Right, better go and hang the washing out, again!
