School Hols...

Who on earth had the wonderful idea to invent school holidays?

It's only the Wednesday of their first complete week of holidays and already I've reached the end of my tether?

The whole year I have have more or less normal children, they keep themselves busy, they argue from time to time and don't complain too much. Then come the holidays and they change into monsters, bored allthe time, hitting each other constantly and whingeing non-stop!

I don't understand, I do take them out and take an interest in them but they are permanently dissastisfied. Amandine threw two huge tantrums yesterday, in public, one in the post Office, the other one in the supermarket! Peter is happy only if he's bothering someone, preferably Amandine (I know, what's new there...), Kévin aggravates everyone on top and Laura keeps throwing disapproving and frustrated looks at me. Christopher, he acts like a martyr, leaking rivers of tears! Help!

I tried to stir them in the right direction again last night at dinner. I re-established a few forgotten rules and distributed their pocket money (reduced for some) and new housework responsabilities but so far not much results...

Anyway let's hope things improve tomorrow. For a start, Peter is going to Playscheme. He defied me that I wouldn't carry out my threat and so he lost! I have to pack for our holiday. We are leaving on Saturday, going to the mountain for a week.

By the way, after having been kept waiting the whole day which didn't help my nerves, I am very happy to report that I did get the job at the Estate Agency! I will start on July 19th, part-time.
